1. Everything has a place, and a place for everything. Don’t just leave stuff laying around, find a place for them to go or put them back where they belong. Make it a point to put your dirty clothes in the hamper and not on the ground, and hang your clean clothes on the rack instead of leaving them in a pile on your chair.
2. Get dressed in your bathroom or walk-in closet so clothes are easy to get to. Decide what you want to wear ahead of time, and lay all of your clothes out – pants or skirt, blouse, shoes, belt and bag – and have everything matched so you can get dressed and go. This will save you time and energy, and also keep you from discarding your clothes on the ground as you rush around trying to pick out a good outfit.
3. Organize your clothing by type and color. For example, hang all your bottoms in the same area ranging from pants to shorts to skirts, and each of these categories by color from dark to light; you can do the same with tops starting with jackets and ending with tank tops or short sleeved shirts. When things are organized by type and color it makes it easier for you to find the piece of clothing you need in the color you want it in.
4. You can do the same thin for your accessories that you do for your clothes – group your bags together by function and color, and underneath them line up your shoes and belts in the same way. Then you never have to worry about your shoes matching your purse.
5. Find storage containers to further organize and partition out your space. Storage containers can also provide your belongings protection from pests, and if you label your containers, they make it easy for you to find exactly what you’re looking for.
6. Remove items that don’t belong in your bedroom. All the mail, magazies, coffee mugs, and other things that you bring into your room that don’t belong there can be put back in their rightful places – like the kitchen or living room. You can even put a table near your door where you can put the things that need to be put back.
7. Make a cleaning schedule. Pick out one day every week that you can spend two or three hours cleaning, organizing, and de-cluttering your space.
If your space is clean and organized, it will be much easier to feel peaceful and relaxed. Improve your lifestyle today by cleaning your room; you’ll be amazed by the change in appearance as well as the change in the way your room makes you feel. Find a way to implement these simple tips into your routine. You won’t regret it!
